Submissions from other countries
I've just read the rules. Why is the app challenge open to so few countries? Our team is from Brazil. Any chance other countries will be added to the list?

Hi Fabricio.
Thanks for writing. We wish all competitions could be open to all countries, but the legal requirements and business organization are both factors. By no means is this a statement as to whether international developers are valued or not -- they are -- rather it's just a logistical matter which is a requirement.
We do not have plans to open the challenge to additional countries. We're sorry for any inconvenience.
All the best,
Marny

Maybe this should be called the "somejoyn-" or even the "veryfewjoynappchallenge"?! :-b
On a more serious note, I *do* think this reflects badly on Qualcomm --but hey, as you say, they may have their reasons for choosing to exclude most foreigners!

There's no reason to rag on Qualcomm. I'm sure there are valid reasons for the eligibility requirements. It's possible that they can't legally award cash prizes to people residing in countries where they don't have a facility on. In fact, there are many possibilities that we do not know, and which we do not have to be privy to. People should just be thankful for the opportunity that they are being offered.

I think Qualcomm and ChallengePost can't be held responsible for Brazilian law and that of nearly 200 other countries.
Many countries forbid such a competition and to pay for legal research everytime Qualcomm does something like this would quickly use all of Qualcomm's earnings.
However you are still quite free to use the free alljoyn API also by that same Qualcomm company unless you think it reflects poorly on yourself.

Our team is from Turkey. We have been using Alljoyn for nearly 2 years. We were excited when we first heard the Alljoyn App Challenge. It is so sad that we too can not participate to the challenge.
I understand the Qualcomm's efforts to include other countries too, in order to boost the quality and innovation. But I wish, we can still participate, giving up the prize.
