based off of two Android devices

Hello,

just received an news email from you guys saying

>>*As a reminder, to be eligible, your app must be based off of and work on two Android devices. If your app is compatible with other operating systems as well, that’s great! But our peer-to-peer technology must be able to function on Android.

I find it ambiguous. So please help me understand if any of the following scenarios makes for an elligible entryto the challenge:

1. App works on stock Android device (standalone, hardly manageable) but with a click of a button, it could also display the Android screen on a Windows 7 TV set (greatly improves usability)

2. App works on stock Android device (standalone, hardly manageable) but with a click of a button, it could also display the Android screen on an Android TV set (greatly improves usability)

3. App works on just a few Android devices (standalone, hardly manageable) but with a click of a button, it could also display the Android screen on an Linux TV set (greatly improves usability)

4. App works on just a few Android devices (standalone, hardly manageable) but with a click of a button, it could also display the Android screen on an Android TV set (greatly improves usability)

Thanks

    Hi Catalin,

Thanks for writing. The app must utilize the AllJoyn SDK which enables ad hoc, proximity-based device-to-device communication.

If you build an Android app that will work on two devices plus any of the TVs you mentioned, it would be eligible for the Best Multi-screen Experience prize.

Feel free to email me directly at support@challengepost.com with any additional questions.

    Best,
    Marny

    Hi,

    sorry, it is still unclear.
Does that mean that none of the 4 scenarios is eligible ?

    Thanks

    Hi Catalin,

Numbers 3 & 4 would be eligible because they mention "Android devices" (plural). Numbers 1 & 2 would not be eligible because they only mention a single "stock Android device."

    Best,
    Marny

    I think we've a misunderstanding here.
That Email simply pointing to Peer-To-Peer usage by giving example of two Android devices. In the same email, It also points that one device must be android based, another can be other platform too.

Come on, Think about, Can you imagine any app that should be usable with Two Android devices all the time and one TV Set.

I think this should be clarified properly.

    Hi Pratap,

Thanks for writing. In order to be eligible for the competition, entrants must create an Android app that utilizes the AllJoyn SDK which enables ad hoc, proximity-based device-to-device communication.

If you create an app that works on two Android devices and utilizes the AllJoyn SDK, that would eligible for the competition. (Use scenario #1)

To be eligible for the Best Multi-screen Experience prize, your app must be eligible for the competition (see use scenario above) and must be able provide a shared experience between television and tablet, television and smartphone, desktop PC and tablet, or desktop PC and smartphone devices whereby the application(s) across the devices work together to create an experience that is reliant on both screens. (Use scenario #2)

The two scenarios above are not required to happen in tandem, but are both required in order to be eligible for the Best Multi-screen Experience prize.

    Best,
    Marny
